My Story

Brian Kohagen

I'm a sports photographer based in Idaho with a deep passion for bicycle racing. What started as a love for cycling culture has grown into a dedicated pursuit of capturing the raw intensity, emotion, and beauty of racing across every discipline.

From the tight packs of road criteriums to the wild descents of mountain bike enduro, from the mud-soaked chaos of cyclocross to the endless gravel roads — I thrive on being in the thick of the action. My goal is to deliver images that tell the story of each race and make every rider feel like a champion.

I've covered races across Idaho and beyond, including NICA interscholastic mountain bike events, SWICA road races, local cyclocross series, gravel events, and more. I know the sport because I live it.

My Approach

In the Thick of It

I don't shoot from the sidelines. I position myself where the action is most intense — at the apex of corners, at the top of climbs, in the mud pits, and at the finish line. I understand the flow of a race because I know the sport from the inside.

Every event gets same-day or next-day turnaround. Photos are delivered via SmugMug where riders, teams, and families can easily view, download, and purchase prints.
